Why Cold Pressed Oils Are Better for Your Health

Cold pressed oils keep nutrients, flavor, and aroma intact. No heat, no chemicals. Here’s why your body will thank you for switching.

Your Oil Should Come From a Seed, Not a Factory

Most oil on store shelves is made with heat, chemicals, and machines running at 200°C+. It’s cheap to make, lasts forever on the shelf, and tastes like… nothing.

Cold pressed oil is different. We crush seeds slowly, at room temperature, using a traditional wooden ghani or low-speed press. No heat. No solvents. No shortcuts. The result? Oil that still remembers it was a seed.

Three Reasons Your Body Prefers Cold Pressed

    Nutrients stay alive

High heat destroys Vitamin E, antioxidants, and good fats like Omega-3. Cold pressing keeps them intact.

    No chemical leftovers

Refined oils use hexane to pull out every last drop. That solvent is “removed” later — but traces remain.

Cold pressed = only seed + pressure. What you see is what you eat.

    Real flavor, real aroma

Heat kills smell and taste, so factories add “natural flavor” back in.

Cold pressed groundnut oil smells like roasted peanuts. Cold pressed coconut oil smells like fresh coconut. If your oil has no smell, your food loses too.

Cold Pressed v/s Refined: Quick Check

Cloudy at the bottom? That’s good. Those are natural nutrients settling. Just shake and use.

How We Do It at Organic Options Farms

    • Source: Seeds grown without pesticides on our farm, or on partner farms we trust.
    • Clean: Sun-dried, hand-sorted. No old or damaged seeds.
    • Press: Wooden ghani at slow speed. Batch made, not mass made.
    • Settle: Oil rests naturally for 3–4 days. We don’t use filters or bleach.
    • Bottle: Straight into glass or food-grade tins. From seed to bottle in 7 days.

No factory. No hexane. No “refined, double-refined, triple-refined.”

How to Use Cold Pressed Oils

    • Best for: Salad dressings, tadka, low–medium heat cooking, skin & hair.
    • Avoid: Deep frying at very high heat — use for phodni, sautéing, or a finishing drizzle.
    • Store: Cool, dark place. Use within 6 months after opening.

    Your Body Knows the Difference

    When you switch, you’ll notice:

    • Food tastes richer with less oil.
    • No acidity or throat burn after fried snacks.
    • Skin and hair feel better if you use it externally too.

That’s because you’re eating food, not a factory product.

  • A Beginner’s Guide to Cooking with Organic Millets

A Beginner’s Guide to Cooking with Organic Millets

New to millets? Start here. How to wash, soak, and cook organic millets in 20 minutes. Easy swaps for rice, roti, and upma — the farm way.

Millets Are Just Grains. Your Grandparents Ate Them Daily.

Bajra roti in winter. Ragi mudde with ghee. We didn’t call them “superfoods” then. They were just food.

Millets grow with little water, need no chemicals, and fill you up without making you sleepy. At Organic Options Farms, we grow them in real soil, sun-dry them, and skip the polish. What you get is grain + nutrition, nothing stripped away.

Start With These 3 Millets — Easiest for Beginners

How to Cook Any Millet in 3 Steps

    Step 1: Wash

Take 1 cup millet. Rinse 2–3 times. Millets have a natural layer that can taste bitter. Washing fixes it.

    Step 2: Soak

Soak for 20 minutes. Makes it cook faster and easier on the stomach.

Bajra is the only exception — soak overnight.

    Step 3: Cook

Water ratio: 1 cup millet : 2.5 cups water

Boil water, add soaked millet + a pinch of salt. Simmer 12–15 minutes with the lid on. Turn off, rest 5 minutes. Fluff it. Done. That’s it.

Pressure cooker: 1 cup millet : 2 cups water. 1 whistle, then 5 minutes on low.

Four Ways to Eat Millets This Week — No New Recipes Needed

    • Monday lunch: Little Millet + dal + sabzi. Same plate, just swap the rice.
    • Tuesday breakfast: Foxtail Millet upma. Cook like rava upma, but use millet.
    • Wednesday dinner: Ragi dosa. 1 cup ragi flour + ½ cup rice flour + water + salt. Ferment 2 hours, make dosa.
    • Sunday comfort: Kodo Millet khichdi. Millet + moong dal + haldi + ghee. Light on the stomach, heavy on taste.

    Why “Organic” Matters With Millets

Supermarket millet is polished till it’s white. That shine means the fiber and B-vitamins are gone.

Organic Options Farms millets are unpolished. Dull color, full nutrition. Grown without chemicals, so you don’t have to wash away pesticides.

You’ll feel the difference: no bloating, energy that lasts, and sugar that doesn’t spike and crash.

  • Not All “Organic” Comes From a Farm. Ours Does

Not All “Organic” Comes From a Farm. Ours Does

Why Organic Options Farms grows food differently — no shortcuts, no chemicals, just soil, sun, and time. Taste the farm difference.

We Don’t Have a Factory. We Have a Farm

Walk into most stores and you’ll see “organic” on the label. But turn the packet over. Who grew it? Where? When?

At Organic Options Farms, we know the answer. Because we planted it.

    • Plot 2, Line C. That’s where your Tahiti Lemons grow.
    • The old stone drying yard. That’s where Shikakai pods become powder — in the sun, not in a machine.

No middlemen. No warehouses. No “organic” that sat in a truck for two months.

Hands holding dark, compost-rich farm soil

What “Farm-Fresh Organic” Actually Means Here at Organic Options Farms

    Soil before everything

We feed the soil, not the plant. Compost, cow dung, crop rotation. Healthy soil = healthy food. Simple.

Harvested when ripe, not when trucks are ready

    • Tahiti Lemons picked at 5am, when the oils are strongest.
    • Shikakai pods sun-dried for 6 days, until they snap.

Flavor doesn’t come from a lab. It comes from timing.

    Zero shortcuts

    • No pesticides. We use neem, garlic spray, and good bugs.
    • No artificial colors or fragrance. What you smell is the plant.
    • No fine print. What’s on the label is what’s in the bag.

Why This Matters on Your Plate

    • When food travels less, it keeps more nutrition.
    • When it’s grown without chemicals, your body doesn’t have to fight them.
    • When you know the farmer, you trust the food.

That’s why our customers say: “This tastes like how I remember food as a kid.”

    From Our Farm to You

We’re not a big brand. We’re a small farm trying to do things right.

Every order helps us plant more, hire local hands, and keep soil chemical-free for the next season.
